Today was a wet, cold slush no matter where you went. My boots would not dry out from tramping about in the snow yesterday, and I realize that the shoes that I have had for the past ten years might have finally met their maker.
Today is the type of day where one would like to go outside - it's so bright and blue and crisp. The problem is that no matter where you walk the slush overtakes one.
I read today that this is the time of year for Daruma markets in Japan. It seems only fitting, actually, that it isn't until about the end of the month that one is finally able to make good on their resolutions. I also makes sense considering that in Japan the lunar new year fell in February. To have markets between January and March, the traditional start of spring according to Asian traditions seems quite suitable.
