Alexis is an artist based in Washington Heights in Manhattan, NY. She works primarily in watercolors, pen, and ink. Having studied East Asia and Japan for over a decade, she specializes in Japanese food culture, food education, and seasonality in her work and research. She is particularly interested in agriculture, sustainability, and incorporating traditional practices into daily work. Since 2016, Alexis has been working to produce a documentary about food education in Japan. To learn more about this project, visit the Nourishing Japan website. Alexis is also active in the uptown community, having served on the Founder’s Committee to the Washington Heights & Inwood Food Council and a Member of the Board of the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra.
